Jim Brown

Jim Brown moved to Rutherford County in March 1998 to become publisher of The Daily Courier when it was sold to Paxton Media Group. He had served as publisher of the Norwalk (Ohio) Reflector from mid-1994 until 1998. During that time, he participated in the founding of a Leadership program in Huron County, Ohio.

He was a member of the initial board and participated in the program's first class. If he had not moved to Rutherford County, he was to serve as president of Project Leadership of Huron County.

Since moving to the county, Brown has served on the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce for seven years, including one year as president of the board of directors. He is a member of the Forest City Lions Club, the board of directors for the Rutherford County Senior Center and is a member of the board for the new Foothills Connect Business and Technology Center. He served two years as chairman of the Realize Rutherford Steering Committee. He has also served on the board for the Rutherford County unit of the Salvation Army and the LifeServices board of directors.

Brown started his newspaper career in Ohio in 1962 and has also worked in California and Florida as both an editor and a publisher. He attended Bowling Green State University.

He has a son, Jeffrey, who is a computer support manager at University of North Carolina campus in Asheville.

Brown lives in Forest City.
