How to Apply
Each year, Leadership Rutherford brings together 20-25 select individuals recognized as established or emerging leaders to participate in its annual educational leadership program. Class member selection is based on leadership experience and/or potential, as well as community involvement. Other factors taken into consideration include geographic representation, job sector, ethnicity, age, gender, and other dimensions of diversity to ensure that Leadership Rutherford cohorts accurately represent the county.
Graduates of the program will be better equipped to affect positive change throughout the county because they have a greater understanding of the area's political, social, financial and institutional structures and have a larger network of resources.
The 2022-2023 program has concluded. Congratulations Class of '23!
Application are now open to become a part of 2023-2024's cohort of aspiring Leaders!
About Leadership Rutherford
Leadership Rutherford's Mission: To create an annual program that identifies, engages, and empowers diverse community leaders to use their skills and energy in service to benefit Rutherford County, North Carolina.
The program would not be what it is today without the incredible cooperation of those same leaders who participate in the monthly programs that reflect Rutherford County. Their desire to see Rutherford County progress fuels their willingness to share their knowledge.
Each August, a new class begins its journey through the 10-month program. It is wonderful to see the mix of people that experience the Leadership Rutherford challenge. Every class has a mix of high school students, business owners, new arrivals and life-long local residents. Their common bond is caring about and loving this county and a desire to help shape its future. One of the requirements of the program is that each class must complete a project for the betterment of our county. Projects in the past include everything from websites, to community outreach to historical markers and tourism attractions. Each project's goal is to impact the community and make a positive change.
